The blue flag rated beach at Guardamar is one of the longest on the Costa Blanca and is fringed with sand dunes and pine trees.
Entertainment and restaurants are available locally in Guardamar and Quesada, with Torrevieja only a few minutes further away. El Raso itself has shops, restaurants and cafes within a few minutes' walk.
In the local area there are daily markets varying in size and value. These are extremely popular with locals and tourists. Whether you are interested in finding a bargain or just looking to pass some time in the sun they are well worth a visit. The markets have a real atmosphere and feature many items including textiles, craft, footwear and clothing. There is also a large variety of flowers and fresh fruit and vegetables. MONDAY: San Pedro, Santa Pola, Orihuela and Elche
TUESDAY: Alicante, Altea and Orihuela
WEDNESDAY: San Miguel, La Mata and Guardamar
THURSDAY: Alicante, Rojales and San Javier
FRIDAY: Los Montesinos, Pilar de la Horadada and Torrevieja Town (the largest with 1200 stalls)
SATURDAY: Santa Pola, Playa Flamenca, Elche, Almoradi and Alicante
SUNDAY: Campo de Guardamar and Los Montesinos
The mercadillo at Campo de Guardamar is literally 10 minutes' stroll away from the villa and is an excellent day out.
