Local Information

The villa is situated in the community of El Raso, in the heart of the "Parc Naturale de la Mata y Torrevieja". Surrounded by orange & lemon groves, the location is peaceful and uncrowded, but is also close to some of the best beaches of the Costa Blanca.

The blue flag rated beach at Guardamar is one of the longest on the Costa Blanca. There is plenty of contrast, from the bustling town-centre beaches at Guardamar itself to quieter beaches further along the coast to the south, fringed with sand dunes and pine trees.

Entertainment and restaurants are available locally in Guardamar and Quesada, with Torrevieja only a few minutes further away. El Raso itself has shops, restaurants and cafes within a few minutes' walk.

In the local area there are daily markets varying in size and value. These are extremely popular with locals and tourists. Whether you are interested in finding a bargain or just looking to pass some time in the sun they are well worth a visit. The markets have a real atmosphere and feature many items including textiles, craft, footwear and clothing. There is also a large variety of flowers and fresh fruit and vegetables. The mercadillo at Campo de Guardamar takes place every Sunday throughout the year and is literally 10 minutes' stroll away from the villa and is an excellent day out. There are also evening markets in Guardamar de Segura and Torrevieja. Details of other local markets can be found in the local press.

Most of the essentials are available at th local supermarket, but if you want to stock up for the whole week, there are plenty of larger supermarkets available, such as Consum, Mercadona, Aldi, and Lidl. The Carrefour in Torrevieja also has a large selection of household goods, clothing, etc. The Habaneras mall, beside Carrefour, has a good selection of shops if you need some retail therapy.

For the younger members of the family, there are two aquaparks locally, at Torrevieja and Quesada. Horse riding stables are close by.

Getting about

There is a local bus service from El Raso to Guardamar which runs morning and evening.

Car hire is also available locally.

Local taxis are plentiful, reliable and not too expensive. Most companies have English-speaking drivers.

If you're feeling energetic, bicycle hire is available locally in Quesada.
